After years of trials, we are thrilled to offer Pico Pardal Garbanzo—our most reliable chickpea under tough conditions! This variety has shown incredible resilience, thriving despite weed pressure, drought, and late plantings, making it an excellent choice for home gardeners and farmers alike.
Hailing from the León region of Northwest Spain, Pico Pardal Garbanzo is known for its small size, pronounced beak, and rich, buttery flavor. Traditionally used in "maragato," a beloved regional meat soup, this variety carries deep cultural significance. In 1998, a vegetable packer attempted to trademark its name and restrict its use, but after a 17-year legal battle, the courts ruled in favor of the people—free the seed!
Grow Pico Pardal Garbanzo for a time-honored, culturally significant bean that stands strong in the garden and the kitchen!
